The Gun Mountain Loop Trail is a great moderate trail for summer and fall hiking, it gets fairly washed out in the spring and can be quite slippery in the winter so bring your walking poles if you are venturing out. The wide trail is accessible year-round and is part of an ATV trail system, featuring some steep inclines and loose rocks. We did encounter a few very kind ATVers on this hike so be sure to listen for them approaching and share the trails.

We definitely weren’t prepared for the steep inclines of this hike, even though the trail name has the word ‘mountain’ in it. The elevation gains were anywhere between 150 to 200 metres, but the 360-degree view at the top was worth every step!

Lookout from the top of the Gun Mountain Loop Trail

The end of the Gun Mountain Loop Trail and the very top of the mountain has two red Adirondack chairs for you to have a break or a picnic. While enjoying the Tom’s lookout view of the sparkling blue lake, lush green trees and the never-ending rolling Radcliffe hills off in the distance.

On your way back away from the main viewpoint, don’t forget to have a look around at all the lakes, ponds, swamps, lush forests and rock outcroppings all around you!
